So, November is all about Black Friday – offers that last the whole month and I do hope you took advantage of our 15% discount on all our jewellery? Maybe you were super organised and got all your Christmas shopping sorted – maybe you’re one of those people who has everything bought and wrapped with bows and labels attached by the end of November? Not me I'm afraid, for some reason I can’t really start thinking Christmas until we hit the first of December. Well, I clearly do for work with Christmas jewellery orders to send, windows to dress with lights and baubles but in terms of my own Christmas organisation and present buying, it really starts today. December 1st.
I’m even more excited this year as my brother and family are visiting from Australia and we haven’t seen them since before Covid so an even bigger excuse to celebrate and treat each other with some special gifts. I love seeing all those brightly wrapped and ribboned gifts under the tree on Christmas Eve as I sip my glass of fizz and listen to the carols.
So why do we give gifts to each other at Christmas?
One of the main reasons we have the tradition of giving and receiving gifts is to remind us of the presents given to Jesus by the three wise men. Gold, Frankincense and Myrrh. And Christmas itself is really about the gift God gave to the world in the form of his son, Jesus.
All over the world families and friends give presents to each other. Most children believe in a magical gift bringer – whether this be St Nicholas, Santa Claus or Father Christmas. In Germany they believe is Christkind, in Spain, the three wise men and in parts of Italy, an old lady called Befana.
The presents are left in lots of different places too. In most of Europe, the presents are left in shoes or boots put out by the children. In Italy, America and here, presents are left in stockings, often left hanging by a fireplace or at the end of the child’s bed. This traditional of hanging stocking up comes from the story of St Nicholas. In many countries, presents for friends and family are put under the Christmas Tree. In the UK, they are often opened on Christmas day morning with all the family together. We open ours after lunch when all the work has been done, and you can enjoy a glass of something nice by the fire.
It's always interesting to know how traditions start – from Valentine’s Day to Mother’s Day and Christmas. Whatever the reasons it is always lovely to receive gifts (although some can be pretty dodgy!) but I do love giving gifts too. I find it increasingly tricky to find something special that my family and friends will love and I’m sure everyone faces the same problem, especially if you have numerous people to buy for.
Christmas Gifts to Choose From
Here at Cavendish French, we thought we’d try and help you with some of our present ideas for this Christmas, and with all our jewellery pieces hand-made from fine 925 sterling silver and set with AAA+ cubic zirconia, you can be certain that you will be buying a quality gift which they will treasure for ever.
We've made it so easy for you to buy by giving you a collection for each type of person you are buying for, so whether it is your mum, your son’s girlfriend, a best friend or someone who loves animals or flower, we have the perfect silver jewellery for you.
Let’s start with Mums who are so important to us all (if you are a mum, you can always drop a few hints about something you would like from our collection to save getting something awful!) A beautiful handmade sterling silver bangle is always a wonderful present which easily accessorises any outfit. Easy to wear, versatile and a classic to wear alone or stacked with other silver bangles and bracelets. Our fine Silver Clip Bangle would be a perfect choice.
Along the same theme, a hand-made silver necklace worn short in the neck and layered with other necklaces and pendants, would make a great gift for a best friend or sister. My personal favourite is our silver Triple Ball Necklace which I wear every day. Simple, everyday style and elegance.
Do you have a magpie in the family who loves anything that sparkles? You are definitely in the right place to choose a jewellery gift for them. Have a look at our Party Sparkle Collection for a full choice but a couple of favourites would be our silver Snowflake Pendant, perfect for this time of year and sparkles just like a snowflake! One of our bestselling designs is our Vintage Style Ring which is available in citrine yellow, aqua blue and pink diamond cubic zirconia. A silver cocktail ring which would be perfect for Christmas parties and a little bit of glam on Christmas day. We also have a wide selection of jewellery with gorgeous Christmas colours of emerald green and ruby red cubic zirconia stones which are big sellers at the moment. How about Silver & Ruby Red Solitaire and Jacket Earrings which have a ruby red oval stud at the centre and a sparkling jacket which can be worn with it for extra sparkle. The perfect earrings as you get two pairs for the price of one!
Now, teenagers, daughters, girlfriends, nieces or Goddaughters. What on earth do you buy for them? I think silver stud earrings or some huggies are a perfect choice. We have a range of huggies but our Triple Band Huggies are stunning with three different stone set strands, so it looks like you are wearing three pairs of earrings. Great stacked with other silver earrings as seems to be the growing fashion over the last few years. A lovely quality gift which won’t cost the earth.
A gift of love – what could be better that our stunning Eternal Heart Silver pendant with a beautiful central ruby red cubic zirconia.
Finally, do you have someone who loves gold jewellery or mixed metal designs? We have a range of silver jewellery plated in 18 carat yellow gold so that you get the look and warmth of gold but at a price you can afford. Our handmade copper and silver jewellery is also extremely popular. Our Teardrop Earrings are one of our most popular copper designs.
Something else which might make it easier for you to choose is our Christmas Gifts for Her Collection where we have put together some of our customer’s favourite silver jewellery for you to choose from. And if you are trying to keep the costs down this year, then have a look at our collection of Stocking Fillers with all the jewellery priced below £40.00
We deliver all our jewellery to you in a free branded gift box too, (and free UK standard postage) so it's all ready to pop in their stocking or under the tree.
We all hope you have a wonderful Christmas and that 2023 is a bright and happy year for all of you.
