All you need is Love.. and a Little Sparkle

From: 30th January 2025

What can I say about Valentine’s Day? Is it just another commercial event designed to make us spend more money, or a meaningful opportunity to celebrate love and cherish someone special? The truth is, it’s probably a mix of both. But I’ve always appreciated days like this. Just like Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, and even Grandparents’ Day (not to mention National Wine Day and Napping Day - big fan of those!), Valentine’s Day reminds us to acknowledge and appreciate those closest to us, people we sometimes take for granted.

If you’re someone who regularly spoils your partner, takes their mum out for lunch, or buys flowers just because - good on you! But for many of us, daily life gets hectic, and we don’t always take the time to express our feelings. That’s why Valentine’s Day serves as a great reminder. And no, you don’t have to splurge on extravagant gifts. A cup of tea in bed, a heartfelt chat over a glass of wine, or a simple bunch of daffodils for a pound can mean just as much. That said, if you do want to treat your special someone to something extra, a gorgeous piece of silver jewellery would certainly be a wonderful choice.

After the excitement of Christmas and New Year and the financial struggles of January, Valentine’s Day is a lovely event to look forward to. And yaay, it falls on a Friday this year which is perfect but make sure you book something special early as I’m sure all the best places will end up packed.

Now, I know chocolates and flowers are the go-to gifts for Valentine’s, (research shows over £200 million spent on flowers for Valentine’s Day) but why not opt for something more lasting? Let’s be honest - many of us are still trying to stick to those New Year’s resolutions, making chocolates a bit of a challenge. And flowers? Don’t even get me started on how their prices double in the lead-up to Valentine’s Day. I’d rather wait a week and get twice as many for my money! (does that make me unromantic?! – well I have been married for 32 years) My sons probably feel a little differently or at least their girlfriends do.

Rather that talk about the history of Valentine’s Day and how it all began - let’s focus on how it’s celebrated today. Sending a card remains the most popular tradition, with around 145 million Valentine’s Day cards exchanged annually (according to the Greeting Card Association). Unsurprisingly, women purchase about 85% of these cards! I still find the idea of anonymous Valentine’s cards quite romantic, though I’m not sure if that’s still a thing. Back in school, it could be a bit traumatic, especially when some girls received stacks of cards while others got none. (yes, that was me!) It was always better when Valentine’s fell on a weekend to avoid the public embarrassment!

Valentine’s Jewellery Gifts

Finding the perfect Valentine’s gift can be tricky. You want something meaningful, something that truly expresses your love. I recently saw some research which said 13% of women would like jewellery, 15% want to receive spa treatments and 27% would like to get a holiday (wouldn’t we all!)

But jewellery is the only gift mentioned that lasts - silver jewellery makes such a timeless choice - it’s elegant, personal, and long-lasting, much like your love.

If you’ve decided that jewellery is the way to go, the next question is: which piece? To help, I’ve put together a romantic Valentine’s Jewellery collection, as well as our Gifts of Love selection, to make choosing a little easier. As a small family business for over 30 years, we craft all our jewellery in sterling 925 silver, often featuring sparkling AAA* cubic zirconia stones that are almost identical to diamonds but without the hefty price tag. If you’re planning to propose, we also offer a stunning range of silver and cubic zirconia engagement rings.

For the true romantic who adores classic Valentine’s red, our Heart of India Pendant is a stunning choice. A handmade 18 carat gold-plated sterling silver heart that exudes elegance and romance. At the heart of the pendant sits a beautiful ruby red cubic zirconia, carefully cut and faceted to resemble a genuine ruby. If you really want to treat her – then we have matching earrings too. If she prefers something daintier, our Sweetheart Pendant with a ruby-red cubic zirconia makes such a pretty gift.

If classic elegance is more her style - something she can wear everyday which works both for a business look but also worn casually for any occasion our Love Knot Earring in polished silver are a perfect pick. The design is a combination of a love knot and kiss - what could be a more romantic gift for someone special and a lovely alternative gift to traditional heart jewellery.

Gold plated jewellery is very much in fashion at the moment, so if she’s a fan, how about our cute gold-plated heart stud earrings – or our Rainbow Dance Bracelet which is so elegant and adds a splash of personality to any outfit.

And of course, we can’t discuss Valentine’s jewellery without mentioning rings! If you’re planning to propose, our ‘Love You’ Solitaire Ring is simply breathtaking. The brilliant AAA* cubic zirconia sparkles with every movement, offering the look of a diamond solitaire at a fraction of the price. She’ll adore it and won’t have to worry about wearing it daily.

For those celebrating years of love, an Eternity Ring is a beautiful option. Set in sterling silver with a row of seven sparkling AAA* cubic zirconia stones, it’s stunning on its own or when paired with other rings. If you’re after something playful yet meaningful, our ‘All Hearts’ Band Ring is a fantastic choice - perfect for stacking with other silver or gemstone rings.

If she just loves a bold statement cocktail ring – then why not choose a sparkling bling ring featuring a ruby coloured stone to keep the Valentine feel. Our cubic zirconia Trilogy Ring or the Maharaja would be great choices.

Deliver It with Style

You’ve picked the perfect jewellery - now, how will you present it? We’ve got the packaging covered, as every piece arrives in a beautiful, branded gift box. But think about the moment itself. Will you give it to her over a romantic candlelit dinner, on a scenic beach walk, or in a lively bar? Maybe add a handwritten love letter or create a fun little treasure hunt to lead her to the surprise. A little extra thought goes a long way in making the moment unforgettable.

Wishing everyone a very Happy Valentine’s Day—savour every moment and celebrate the love you share!
